Then some of the Pharisees and teachers of the law said to him, “Teacher, we want to see a sign from you.”
He answered, “A wicked and adulterous generation asks for a sign! But none will be given it except the sign of the prophet Jonah…”
There is an almost, New Age obsession with signs and wonders that has spread like a wild fire throughout the Church – starting with the Vineyard Movement; then to the false Toronto Blessing Revival; then to megachurches like IHOP (International House of Prayer) and Bethel Church in Redding, California.
This obsession with experiencing ‘more’ meant that demonic manifestations like uncontrollable laughter, extreme convulsions and golden dust rain have been imparted onto millions of people worldwide, by the work of Satan. Additionally, this extreme focus on having an ‘encounter’ with the supernatural, has meant that repentance and faith in Christ as been altogether removed or diluted.
The Signs and Wonders Movement is being accelerated by the soaring popularity of their music (Jesus Culture songs), books and teachings, which have struck a cord with other churches and young people.
Folks, this is not some conspiracy theory – it is a very sad reality. I can’t judge the motives of leadership of this movement but I can say that their fruits are rotten, when put under the knife of biblical discernment.
The Lord bless you and may you have eyes to see what God sees.
